Start Page

This workshop is designed as a series of questions and answers. Please read through the answers to each question, then complete the assignment at the end. The bottom of each page has a link to bring you back to this question page or take you to the next question. Before your first scheduled appointment with one of the pre-health professions advisors, you are required to complete the assignment at the end of this workshop. To find the required assignment, go to the last question and look for the link.

Click on the first question to get started.

1. Where do I start?

2. What major is best (or, what do you mean, there’s no Pre-Med major?!)?

3. I’m considering a career in health care. What are the career options?

4. How can I be sure that I’m taking the classes I’ll need for admission?

5. What’s the entrance examination like (MCAT, DAT, GRE, OAT)?

6. What do I need to do before I take the admissions test (MCAT, DAT, etc.)?

7. What’s the application like? What do the schools need from me?

8. Can I get in with my grades? What will my health profession school be looking for in my application?

9. What kind of experiences do I need to have in addition to my course work?

10. What about letters of recommendation?

11. Will health profession schools interview me? What’s it like?

12. What if I’m not accepted? What can I do about a back-up plan?

Now that you have read the answers to each of these questions, go to the pre-appointment assignment, answer the questions and print out the page. Bring this with you to your appointment at the Pre-Health Professions Advising Center in ILC 103.
